My Choice

Don't be confused, Hancock was not my desired locale to complete my first two years of college, but when it came down to it doing my general education anywhere else without the help of an immense amount of scholarships would make no economic sense... and I couldn't afford it. So I will be staying in my home town to complete my general education before hopefully moving to Cal Poly SLO to complete my bachelor's degree in a field of engineering I have yet to decide on. (Civil, structural, aerospace and mechanical are all contenders)

I personally would recommend a route similar to this to others, because though it will not give as much of an experience as a university, the money saved should be well worth it. Higher education is getting more and more expensive, and you should try to minimize the debt you're putting yourself in when you begin life in the real world.

My own personal advice as well is to remember that you have to stay on top of making sure that you're getting done what you need to get done. Know what you need, not secondarily what the councilor tells you that you need. Make sure your credits are transferable, and get your credits done as soon as you can. If you make mistakes with scheduling or registration you have to remember that it can cost money to replace missed credits.
